If you are a family with a low income and at least one child, and you rent in BC, you may get monthly help paying rent. ▸ Who can get this? • Your household income before tax is $60,000 a year or less. • You have at least one dependent child. • You have less than $100,000 in assets. • More than 30% of your income goes to rent. • You have lived in BC for the last 12 months. • You file a tax return every year. • You are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee (not under private sponsorship), or in Canada under CUAET (the Ukraine program). ▸ What you get • A monthly payment toward your rent, paid by direct deposit. • The most rent counted (since April 2025): $1,950 for a family of 3 or fewer, $2,200 for 4 or more. ▸ How to apply 1. Download the application form, ask for one by mail or phone, or pick one up at a BC Housing office. 2. Gather your documents (see below). 3. Upload everything with the online Program Upload Form, mail it, fax it, or drop it off. ▸ What you need • Proof of income: let CRA share your tax information, or send last year's tax return and Notice of Assessment (NOA) • Proof of status in Canada for everyone in your home • Proof of rent, like your tenancy agreement or a recent rent receipt • A void cheque or direct deposit form • Recent bank statements Send copies only. ▸ Good to know • You cannot get RAP if you are on income or disability assistance, live in subsidized housing or a co-op you own shares in, or share a kitchen or bathroom with your landlord. • You must reapply every year. • Tell BC Housing right away if you start income assistance, or you may have to pay money back. ▸ Contact Phone: 1-800-257-7756 or 604-433-2218 Fax: 604-439-4729 Mail: Rental Assistance Program, BC Housing, 101-4555 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC V5H 4V8
