If you have children under 18 and live in BC, you may get a tax-free payment every month. It comes together with your Canada Child Benefit (CCB). You do not need to apply separately. ▸ Who can get this? • Families with children under 18 who live in BC • Your child must be signed up for the Canada Child Benefit • You (and your spouse or partner) must file your income tax return every year ▸ What you get For July 2026 to June 2027, the most you can get in a year is: • $1,750 for your first child • $1,100 for your second child • $900 for each child after that You get the full amount if your adjusted family net income for 2025 was under $30,176. If your 2025 adjusted family net income was between $30,176 and $96,562, you still get at least $775 for your first child, $750 for your second child and $725 for each child after that. Above $96,562, the amount goes down by 4% of the income over $96,562. The payment is split into 12 monthly amounts. Single parents with low income may also get up to $500 a year extra. ▸ How to apply 1. File your income tax return every year. Your spouse or partner must file too. 2. If your child is not signed up for the Canada Child Benefit yet, apply for the CCB. 3. That's it. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) works out your payment for you. ▸ Good to know • If you share custody, you get half the amount for that child. • Tell the CRA if you move, your relationship status changes, or the number of children in your care changes. If you are overpaid, you must pay it back. • The government will not text you about this benefit. A text about it may be a scam. • Starting in July 2027, a new BC children and youth disability supplement will be paid with the BC Family Benefit. • To estimate your monthly amount, use the federal child and family benefits calculator on canada.ca.
