▸ What it is Short-term housing for women and women with children. The Society of Hope has 18 independent, unfurnished apartments in two central locations. You can stay up to one year. Residents in good standing can apply to stay longer, but every stay must be less than two years. Residents set three goals and get some support from the Society to work on them. This is not emergency housing. For emergency housing listings, the Society suggests calling the Kelowna Women's Resource Centre at 250-762-2355 or Kelowna Community Resources at 250-763-8008. ▸ Who it's for • Women 19 or older, with or without children • Male children must be 11 or younger • Free of drug and alcohol addiction for six months • Able to live independently and manage your own home • Willing to follow the rules, set goals and use community resources • Able to give a good current landlord reference ▸ What you get • Your own suite with kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom(s) • Community rooms for tenant events • Smoke-free, substance-free buildings ▸ Cost • Subsidized units: about 30% of your gross monthly income • Affordable units: a flat rate based on how many people live there • The utility fee is collected with rent ▸ Rules • No pets (certified service animals may be considered) • No overnight guests without written permission from the Site Manager • Males over 12 must stay in common areas ▸ How to apply 1. Fill out the inquiry form on the Short Term Housing page. 2. Applications are only reviewed when a unit opens up. 3. Placement is based on income, age, family size and need.
