If you live with a disability, you can get free help to open and use a Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP). An RDSP is a savings account for people with disabilities. The government can add money to it. ▸ What help you get • A free toll-free helpline for one-on-one help with the RDSP and other disability questions • Help with the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). You need the DTC to open an RDSP. Disability Alliance BC (DABC) advocates can help you apply. • Help with trusts, estate planning, government benefits and speaking up for yourself • Free webinars about the RDSP and DTC • Indigenous RDSP Navigation: BCANDS navigators help Indigenous people living with disabilities, and their families, open an RDSP and work with banks ▸ What an RDSP can give you These are the federal government's limits: • You can put in up to $200,000 over your lifetime. • The government grant matches money you put in. At lower incomes, putting in $1,500 gets the full $3,500. • The government bond can add up to $1,000 a year, up to $20,000 in your lifetime. You do not have to put in any money to get the bond. For 2026, the full bond is for family income of $38,237 or less (from your 2024 tax return). Check canada.ca for current amounts. • Grants are paid until December 31 of the year you turn 49. ▸ How to get help 1. Call the helpline and leave a voicemail, or send an email. 2.
