If you live with a physical disability and need equipment you can't pay for, BC Rehab may give you a grant. Examples are wheelchairs, ramps, lifts and assistive technology. ▸ Who can get this? • People with a physical disability, such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, MS, ALS, polio, amputation, arthritis, Guillain-Barré or Parkinson's. • You have financial need and can't get the equipment another way. ▸ What you get • Money toward equipment like power or manual wheelchairs, seating, hospital beds, ramps, lifts, driver rehab lessons, custom orthotics or assistive technology. • Some items have limits: back-up wheelchair $2,500; scooters $1,000; lift chairs $1,000. ▸ How to apply 1. Read the program guidelines on the website. 2. Get an assessment letter from an occupational therapist (OT) or physiotherapist (PT). 3. Get two quotes. One must be a new quote from a vendor. The other can be for used equipment. 4. Fill in the online application and upload everything. ▸ What you need • OT or PT assessment letter • Two quotes • Notice of Assessment (NOA) for your household • Property tax assessment, if you own your home • A parent's or child's financial form, if you live with them ▸ Good to know • Deadlines: February 15, May 15, September 15 and November 15. • Incomplete applications are not reviewed. • Paper applications are no longer accepted. • They may fund a used item instead of new. • Applying for a child under 18?
