CSIL lets you manage your own home support. You get funding from your health authority (Interior Health in the Kelowna area) and use it to hire your own home support workers. You become the employer. You choose who you hire, when they work and how tasks are done. ▸ Who can use it People who have been assessed as needing home support and who have high physical care needs, a physical disability, and are medically stable. If you can't manage CSIL yourself, a support group or a representative can act as the CSIL employer. ▸ Cost You pay a daily rate based on your income. If you or your spouse has earned income, you will not pay more than $300 a month. You do not pay the daily rate if you get the Guaranteed Income Supplement, income or disability assistance, or the War Veterans Allowance. If paying your daily rate would leave you unable to pay for food, rent or mortgage, heat, prescribed medication or other required health care, you can apply to your health authority for a temporary reduction. ▸ How to apply Contact your health authority's home and community care office, or ask a health care professional to refer you.
