A second stage recovery program for women working on recovery from substance use. Karis is not a detox or treatment centre, and it is not for people looking mainly for housing. You live in a supportive residence with your own room, weekly key-worker meetings, group programs, on-site counselling and life-skills support. ▸ Programs: First Stage (about 6 months), then Semi-Independent living. The Parenting program can take children up to 2½ years old. The longest you can stay is 2 years. ▸ Before you arrive: you will need a substance-free urine screen. If you need medical withdrawal, you must finish it before you come. ▸ Cost: a monthly payment is required. Karis accepts people funded through income assistance (Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction). ▸ How to apply: you can refer yourself, or a worker can refer you.
