Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit

Starting July 2026, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) replaces the GST/HST Credit with a 25% increase in payment amounts to help low-income individuals afford everyday essentials. A one-time GST top-up payment (50% increase of the 2025-26 annual GST credit value) will be issued no later than June 2026. Just file your taxes — no separate application needed.
