The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) works on behalf of and with children and youth to protect their legal and financial interests. ▸ Trust services: the PGT manages money and other assets held in trust for children and youth under 19. For example, when a child is named in a will with no trustee, a court order or trust agreement names the PGT, or money is paid as compensation for an injury. ▸ Property guardian services: for children and youth in the permanent care of the Province. ▸ Educational assistance fund: financial aid for people who were in the care of the Province as children. ▸ Trust and guardian questions: 604-775-3480, CYS@trustee.bc.ca ▸ Legal services for people under 19: 604-660-3040, CYSLegal@trustee.bc.ca ▸ Fax: 604-775-2429 ▸ Fees: PGT service fees are set out in BC law.
