A non-medical community support hub for Peachland residents, especially older adults and people with health or disability challenges who want to keep living independently at home. PWC matches each person with a Service Coordinator who builds a plan based on what they actually need. ▸ PWC services — call 250-767-0141 to book an assessment (Adult Day Service uses a different intake — see below): 1) Adult Day Service (ADS) A supervised group program for dependent adults — frail seniors, people with dementia, chronic conditions, or disabilities (complex-care clients per the BC Ministry of Health definition). Includes light exercise, arts & crafts, games, and a nutritious lunch and snacks. Designed so caregivers can take a break. When: Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (by appointment) Where: 4445 6th Street, Peachland (different building from the main centre) How: Interior Health screens clients for eligibility and refers them. Call Interior Health Central Intake at (250) 980-1400. 2) Better at Home (BAH) Practical help around the house so older adults can stay living independently and stay connected. Includes light housekeeping, transportation, friendly visiting, light yard work, and snow removal. When: Monday–Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (by appointment) Where: Main PWC office, 4475 4th Street 3) Community Connector Personalized one-on-one navigation. They help you sort out which health service, social program, or community activity actually fits your situation — and connect you to it. When: Monday–Friday by appointment Where: Main PWC office 4) Friendly Visitor / Friendly Caller Weekly in-person visits or phone calls for people who are isolated. Coordinators or trained volunteers match each client with someone supportive. Everything stays confidential. 5) Grocery Shopping / Pick-up Screened volunteers use their own vehicles to pick up groceries you've pre-ordered and deliver them to your door. 6) Information & Referrals Drop in or call — PWC has a resource library plus staff who can point you to the right agency or service when you're not sure where to start. 7) Outreach A Service Coordinator does a plan assessment with you (in person or by phone) and connects you to PWC programs or other community services. The goal is keeping people in their own homes as long as possible. 8) Transportation Screened volunteers drive you to medical appointments and other essential places using their own vehicles. Book at least 48 hours ahead. ▸ Who qualifies: • For some services, you are assessed on financial eligibility and individual needs • Most programs focus on older adults, caregivers, and people with chronic health or disability challenges ▸ How to access: 1. They'll match you with whichever PWC services fit, and refer you to outside services if needed ▸ Cost: Some services are free. Light housekeeping, transportation, yard work and snow removal are charged on a sliding scale based on income. Transportation has a nominal charge to cover fuel. Adult Day Service has a nominal cost.
