If you live in BC and have MSP, Fair PharmaCare can help you pay for prescription drugs. The less your family earns, the more help you get. ▸ Who can get this? • You are enrolled in the Medical Services Plan (MSP). • You agree to let PharmaCare check your income with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). ▸ What you get • First you pay a yearly amount yourself. This is your deductible. It is based on your income. • After that, PharmaCare pays 70% of eligible costs. It pays 75% if someone in your family was born before 1940. • Once you reach your family maximum, PharmaCare pays 100% for the rest of the year. ▸ How to apply 1. Register online or by phone. You can also mail a paper form. 2. Watch for a consent form in the mail. 3. Sign it and send it back within 30 days. ▸ What you need • Personal Health Numbers for everyone in your family • Social Insurance Numbers for adults • Your net income (line 23600) from your CRA Notice of Assessment from two years ago ▸ Good to know • Temporary coverage starts the same day you register by phone or online. It becomes full coverage once your consent form is returned and your income is checked. • If you do not return the consent form, your coverage ends and your deductible is set at $10,000. • Register once and you are covered for life. It is free to apply. • It does not pay for past years. • If your income dropped by 10% or more, you can ask for an income review.
