Free lawyers at the Kelowna courthouse who give advice to people who don't have their own lawyer. ▸ Family duty counsel: help with family law or child protection issues for people with lower incomes who are representing themselves. In person Monday to Friday, 9 AM–4 PM. Appointments are strongly encouraged. Drop-in is available for urgent matters when there is space. Call 250-448-4289 or email FDCKelowna@legalaid.bc.ca. ▸ Criminal duty counsel: if you are charged with a crime and don't have a legal aid lawyer, duty counsel can give advice about your charges, court procedures and your rights. They can represent you at a bail hearing, and may help with a guilty plea if there is time. You don't have to be financially eligible.
