Interior Health helps you find out if you can move into subsidized assisted living or a long-term care home. ▸ How it works 1. Call Home and Community Care Central Intake at 1-800-707-8550, or your local Home and Community Care office. 2. A care manager assesses your needs and eligibility. You do not need to contact the assisted living building yourself. 3. If you qualify, your name goes on a list. For long-term care, you can choose up to three preferred care homes. Priority goes to people with the highest need and risk. ▸ Assisted living Semi-independent housing for adults who need help with daily tasks but can make their own decisions. Includes a private apartment, help with things like bathing and dressing, two meals a day, weekly housekeeping and a 24-hour emergency response system. ▸ Long-term care For adults with complex health needs who need 24-hour professional care. ▸ Cost Subsidized assisted living is based on income (70% of after-tax income, up to a maximum). People on disability assistance pay a fixed rate. ▸ Who can get it You must be 19 or older, have lived in B.C. for 90 days or longer, and meet Home and Community Care criteria.
